HONOLULU — Presenr Project’s “NEST” program, a Kaka’ako-based youth arts workshop, begins Wednesday at 3 p.m. The five-week workshop involves creating warehouse-scale sculpture from concept to fruition.
The Nest Workshop, for youth ages 10 to 14, will take place in two 5,000-square-foot warehouses on Cooke Street. It’s presented by Kaka’ako-based PRESENT Project — a residency project for artists launched earlier this year by Lana Lane Studios member Hadley Nunes.
Nest — inspired by the way birds construct their nests from found materials — is run by Bryan Welch, who has taught and developed curricula for alternative educational programs since 1997 in the U.S. and Japan. He is the director of New York-based learning and design group Guilds.
