The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center presents the largest of its curated Culture Labs here in Honolulu this weekend. ʻAe Kai opens Friday, July 7th, at the former Foodland at Ala Moana Shopping Center and will feature the artwork of over fifty cultural practitioners from Hawaiʻi and throughout the Pacific Islands.
A time of celebration and convergence of culture, artists from our community in Kakaʻako including John “Prime” Hina, Solomon Enos and Matthew and Roxanne Ortiz of Wooden Wave among others will present work that explores “time, space, nature and us” through this unique community-focused experience. Open through the weekend, admission is free of charge.
