“It’s an experiment,” says Lana Lane artists-in-residence Hadley Nunes.
She’s talking about a five-week artist residency project she envisioned with the aim of educating young artists and establishing Hawaiʻi’s place as part of a network of residencies around the world that are building community capacity through creative industries.
The project, called PRESENT, will bring together seven artists from around the world, with varied backgrounds, in the 10,000 square foot #OurKaakako warehouse at 449 Cooke Street to create collaborative art installations. Nunes also partnered with New York-based education deisgn group Guilds to create the student-centered part of the project, called NEST.
